The table the example is referencing contains the value 11 as outgoing VCI, which is what switch 1 selects.

I think you have misunderstood how the allocation of VCIs is being done in our example. The VCI values are the same in this example as in the preceding, manual one. So Switch 1 is picking the value 5, not 11, as the value it wants to receive from Host A. Hence your change is not correct.

Given the confusion I will see if I can find a way to make this clearer.
