I am new to ruby and i want to understand what exactly does this library provides, i am looking for extraction of a mathematical formulae in a text/pdf ? iam using python right now for this and i would like to understand whether this is a Calabash extension for automatic testing out apps on IOS and android devices ? or can it be used for other purposes ?

This is an extension for the XProc processor XML Calabash. It is meant to be called from XProc pipelines. The input is typically MathType that is embedded in binary files, EPS, or WMF images. There are underlying Ruby libraries that perform the MathType parsing.
This library is not suited for recognizing (by means of OCR) formulas that are contained in PDF documents.

@gimsieke Thanks for the quick response, Can you please provide me a sample input and output of the same and i would be looking forward to include it if it matches our use case and compactable with our techstack.

You can download a release of https://github.com/transpect/docx2tex and then convert any .docx file that contains MathType or the classic MS Equation Editor formulas. This extension will be used for converting them to MathML.
