App not translated

We have some users complaining that the app is not getting translated

1. Main base language English
2. Phone language German

App opens in English, I cannot reproduce but we are getting reports.

We need a fix, the OTA SDK is causing a lot of issues to our apps!

can you provide more details of the issue and if possible also of the implementation?

• Do you know details of the devices the users complaining have (Samsung, Xiaomi, ..)? This can help to better triage the issue
• The app is responsible to pass the devise language into the SDK, can you provide the code how it is done on your end?
• The app needs to update the UI itself to reflect changes when switching the language, can you provide the code how it is done on your end?

@forelabs unfortunately we don't have a lot of devices list but it happened on : Google Pixel 8 Pro, Android 15.

I don't think so, the SDK gets the language from the device or app locale and the SDK have access to it, why should we pass it? it works fine without passing it to the SDL, in any way too just for some users it doesn't

It happens even after closing and opening the app from scratch, the english translations stays even though the device is in German.

I am sorry about the language information. While its possible to set the language it is right that its not needed by default.

We will forward your issue to our Android team. If you can provide the piece of (surrounding) code that handles the translation updates it will help the team to understand your issue. Without such infos we can not troubleshoot as we do have other customers using the sdk and not having those issues. So it might be related to a specific sdk version, specific devices or how the code gets executed.

during app startup

 Phrase.setup(
            context,
            BuildConfig.PHRASE_DISTRIBUTION_ID,
            BuildConfig.PHRASE_TOKEN
        )
Phrase.setAppVersion(....)
Phrase.updateTranslations()

we wrap the context of the main application as suggessted

 override fun attachBaseContext(base: Context) {
        super.attachBaseContext(Phrase.wrapContext(base))
    }

in activities we:

  override fun getDelegate(): AppCompatDelegate {
        return Phrase.getDelegate(this, super.getDelegate())
    }

thats all.

I have noticed there is also another issue that is a bit similar: #77
