Hi,
Could it be considered to release a build of Cinnamon packages (core libs & apps) for the
x86-64-v3\amd64v3level - for testing performance optimizations?Debian supports glibc's hwcaps, and Ubuntu started building packages for the v3 in 25.10 with further plans for 26.04. RHEL10 is
v3-only and Tumbleweed have some v3 packages.I think building the whole Mint universe with alike
-march=x86-64-v3is hardly sustainable, and not necessary since it will eventually be done upstream at least for LMCE. Yet, for Cinnamon and the XApps - it may not be such a drag size and build-resources wise, and perhaps yield some performance gains on compatible hardware (most nowdays?), while still keeping back-compatibility using hwcaps and Ubuntu's apt\dpkg and repo package naming changes.Beta Was this translation helpful?
