k8 login intermittent 301 with 0.10.9

I'm getting intermittent 301 errors after upgrading from 0.10.2 to 0.10.9 using kubernetesLogin

await this.client.kubernetesLogin({ jwt: this.jwt, role: this.role });

I can't seem to track down what is causing them given that the token seems to be valid.
Downgrading back to 0.10.2 makes it stable again.

Sorry this is vague but the release notes are pretty bare and I can't see anything from the commit logs between these two that standout.
