Modern Fork and Mostly Maintained Fork of this Repo

Hey, I just wanted to mention here that there I've got a mostly maintained fork of this repo at that I've been using a for a bit now:

Also I've been working on a new cookiecutter called cookiecutter-robust-python that uses uv, ruff, etc.

It's been a lot of work and I would greatly appreciate it if you would check it out! I just want a template to exist that is as plug and play as this used to be while using modern tooling. So definitely looking for any and all opinions, advice, help, etc!

(Caveat: still a work in progress. Lot of stuff there but mainly integration testing between things needs to happen)

As you mentioned it is a huge undertaking. Maybe we can find some common grounds between these cookiecutter fork and do joint development / maintenance.

Do you have a particular direction that you are hoping to take your template in? I think there are definitely common points between both repos I posted and what you have, but each kind of goes in a different direction in terms of keeping to the original architecture or trying to change the whole workflow

I'm definitely open to sharing ideas to and from either repo, just hoping to figure out kinda what your goals are so I know where to pull ideas from

Well, The direction I was going in was making the "Hypermodern", modern again.
By switching to ruff and UV. (and dropping poetry overhead)
Which has now been accomplished.
I've just bumped the python versions, 3.8 is droppend and 3.13 added.
The safety session has been removed, as it will soon require a login.

Dependabot is already making sure the latest versions are included for security fixes
So there was an overlap there already.

My other, goal was to have a well maintained cookiecutter. At which I failed myself as well.
But I've picked it back up as of now.
Ideally having a team to work on it will reduce the load of a single maintainer.

I am open for suggestions in regards of functionality and features.
I'm still fairly new to the cookiecutter ecosystem.

@56kyle cookiecutter-robust-python seems AMAZING. I love that you integrated cruft and added a toogle for optionally enabling maturin.

just a fair warning the maturin portion isn't working quite yet, but definitely is the top priority right now. I have a branch for it at https://github.com/56kyle/cookiecutter-robust-python/tree/feature/fix-rust-based-portions

come to think of it I really should make a roadmap, the readme is getting kinda dated
