Push Notifications Implementation Plan

Strategy: Multi-backend approach for cross-platform privacy

iOS: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) → APNs

• Only viable option for iOS (Apple's requirement)
• Content passes through Apple servers

Android with Google Services: UnifiedPush with embedded FCM distributor

• Seamlessly uses FCM for regular users (zero config)
• Privacy-conscious users can install external distributors (ntfy, NextPush, etc.)

Android without Google Services (GrapheneOS, LineageOS): UnifiedPush with external distributor

• App detects missing Google Services
• Guides user to install distributor (recommend ntfy from F-Droid)
• Full privacy, no Google dependency

What do you think about this approach?

Let's add a different issue and then a PR for the ios part, let's go with android first as we don't have someone to publish ios app for now
