Why are you forcing people to run live? Both installers are broke. I prefer to install to the hard drive. Why are you deleting the older versions when the new ones doesn't work? I can even test because it's so slow.

Skywave seems to not like your machine. Could you tell me a bit about your system:

• Is your download error free? Check the sha256sum against the Authentication document.
• What is your CPU, motherboard, how much RAM?
• What are the error messages
• What are the resource hogs

In the terminal, to see resources:
top

To look for error messages:
dmesg
journalctl -xe
cat /var/log/syslog

Skywave runs fine on the great majority of 64 bit X86 machines. I suggest a minimum config of dual core, 4 Gb or RAM.
NO DVD -> Use a dd to flashdrive or "multiboot system" booting multiple iso files. FTW, my daily driver boots any of 5 different iso files, depending on the tasks at hand, from a folder on my SSD...

No one is being forced to do anything with Skywave Linux; usage is voluntary. It is built to run well as a live system, and it does (except on a small number of systems with compatibility issues). To change from the live environment to standard / uncompressed, you can rsync the filesystem to any media you want, or install something like Calamares, SystemBack, or Timeshift.

Ubiquity is bloated crap; banished from Skywave Linux.

Calamares has safety measures to prevent overwriting flashdrives and dd copied media:
To prepare a flashdrive for a full, uncompressed installation with Calamares, prepare it this way:

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdX bs=1k count 2048 && sync
parted /dev/sdX mklabel msdos

Older versions are available via bit torrent:
Skywave Linux 3.1.1 on LinuxTracker.org -- This is the favorite.
Skywave Linux 3.0.0 on LinuxTracker -- Except 3.1.1 is better.

Hope this helps. If you want to get Skywave running, come on back with some data. If you delete it and move on, no one is going to frown on you.

ubiquity or calamares don't work running from a live usb. My system is 64bit quad core 8gb ram SSD. I already have Slackware Linux on one drive want to add this to another drive. rsync commands are not working, keep getting permission errors.

Here is a script I have written to clone a running system onto a partition you select. You will need to format the partition and set the boot flag yourself, prior to running the script.

A few notes:

• Tested on respins of Ubuntu and Linux Mint.
• Must use as root or with sudo
• Can rewrite an existing system on the target partition
• BIOS boot; UEFI boot is still a work in progress.
• Partitioning first, then using boot-repair-disk can probably set up a proper UEFI boot
